Area Police
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior political figure said the attack left him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of migrant background in 2020.
